I have seen this blessing attributed both to being an Irish blessing and a Toltec blessing. I learned it as a Toltec blessing through the teachings of Don Miquel Ruiz who is the author of one of my favorite books, The Four Agreements.
I began the practice of saying this blessing several times a day and sending love to my mother while I was in the process of divorcing her. (That’s another story for another day!)
Use this blessing daily – morning, noon and night – to send love to the one (or ones) you are leaving behind. Bless them with love, let them go and send them on their way.
At first, you will feel like a fraud when you begin this practice. My Warrior, how could you ever bless them with love and let them go? But let them go you must! This is but one step on the way that will help you tremendously. Repeat it as often as you can while visually sending heart-centered love to them. This is one case where you can fake it til you make it.
I promise you that one day soon, the blessing will feel authentic to you. You will say it, and you will mean it.
Until then, practice it over and over and over again. And you might want to say it to yourself daily as well.
May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the Pure Light within you guide you on your way!
Walk on, Warrior!
